TC Encore 6 br

I just traded for a EAB 6br Encore and was wondering if anyone has any info on how well these shoot. What all can i do to make an Encore more accurate? Is there anything i should do different when hand loading for it or just load like i would for a bolt gun? Any help would be appreciated.

No experience with EAB, never hear anyone raving about their work, but never of the opposite either.
I have a Bullberry 6BR in 1-10' twist that shoots lights out with 65g v-max.
My only advice is give it a respectable load with whichever twist it's in and find out how she shoots. I find my loads do best when they're seated on the lands, no + or - . If you're not completely satisfied, add a hangar bar to your forend http://www.strattoncustom.com/pages-infopages/pages_id-2/index.html then if your Encore hasn't had a trigger job done yet, Bellm, from the previous poster, can shave some pounds off it. Mine was done by him and it's a 2 1/2 lb trigger.
You can also try the Bellm oversized hinge pin, which some people have sworn to tighten their accuracy. It's a tight fit though and can be not so field ready if you're changing barrels without a punch of some kind.
Good luck!

I have about 800 rounds thru my eab barrel,it shoots fair, the best thing i did for accuracy was to go the head space procedure from mike bellm's website [great information and help on doing the work yourself] i also used his tools.i did a trigger job and pillar bedded the forarm, which i got from georgia jim. Had fun doing the work and could see the improvements.I would not recommend this set up for competition, but still a lot of fun to shoot.if i can be of any help let me know.

I spent this winter building my old T/C encore into a 6mmbr and I have not been disappointed yet.

My specs are:shilen select match barrel from match grade machine
self preformed a trigger job with mike bellm kit
self bedded 3 inch wide forend from bullberry
weaver T-36
This gun was meant to be a starter gun before I built a custom bolt gun, but It shoots so well that I am sure I will always make time to use it. I am certain that building this gun has given me a better understanding of the proper way to reload since these guns are sensitive to cartridge head space. I would go to bellmtc.com as it has a wealth of info. Also do not be afraid to call Mike he does this for a living and it makes hos day to discuss encores with you. He is very friendly. By the way my start with a ladder test to find your charge rate and then do a length to lands test. you should be ready to shoot.
I am still in the early stages with my shooting, but at the range the other day my gun shot a .24 5 shot group at 200 yds and a .32 group at 300 yds. That is a group less than 1' at 300yds and that was the first time I had shoot at that yardage. GOOD LUCK!

When I say I mean no offense I really mean just that but, after careful consideration I have to say this regarding your accuracy claims with the encore.

Sir if you have achieved this kind of accuracy with a break open firearm at 200 and 300 yards you are not only the greatest shot I have ever heard of but also one of the greatest gunsmith's of all time.

I personally have fired thousands of rounds from some very fine and accurate BOLT ACTION rifles over the last ten years and also watched my friends, whose number includes some very good benchrest shooters and guys who compete out to 1000 yds and NEVER not ONE time have I seen that kind of accuracy from me or anyone else. I am talking about custom rifles costing in the thousands to build and handled by very fine shooters, and you are telling me that you are able to blow away their accuracy by a mile.

You are talking about RAILGUN accuracy at 200 yards. Come on man! I would have been stunned by groups 3x the size you describe.

Here are the pictures from the range. Sorry I meant to put MOA after the group measurements. I didnt mean that the 200 yd group was .24 inches but .24 MOA. I know that these are groups that are possible of being shot because I have seen smaller groups from guns on this site. Hope this clears things up.

i just got back from shooting targets with my encore 6mm br, and i shot my best groups so far .6250-.500 groups. i just bought a new Redding S bushing full length resizing die and it works much better than the Hornady dies i have. i shoot 30 gr of Varget and 90 grain Bergers i am s impressed, you really need to have your headspace set right to get this kind of accuracy. i did neck turn the cases and run a .265 dia bushing.

i have a 223 in encore and a 300 win mag. i thought it was a good buy, getting to rifle for a good price, but i will NEVER own any more. 223 will not shot any ammo i have tried, even hand loads, best i can get a 100 yards is 2 inch group. even sent it back to thompson, they siad it was alright. tried to sell it, but guess i'm the only sucker that will buy one. local shop will not even trade on it, they have a hole rack of barrels in every cal. and can not sell them. not happy at all.

To get the most accuracy out of an encore you need to fit it with a custom barrel. It is just like any gun with a factory barrel it may shoot fine, but a custom will really draw out that accuracy.
