TC Contender bore guide

I've acquired 2 Contender 22lr barrels, and looking for bore guides. Any suggestions. Most, if not all I've been able to find per google shows discontinued, or for CF barrels.

Also, do you take the barrel off the frame to clean, leave on the frame, use a vise of some type, or what. I've got a 10" and super 14, and my current set up for rifles don't work too good. :oops:

I may be doing it the wrong way, but on my TC's I don't take the barrel off, but turn the action on it's side, so fluids dripping don't drop in the reciever area and just clean from the chamber end, without a bore guide. Then when I am finished with the bore cleaning I mop the chamber area out, to clean out residue in it.

Bill K;
Are your barrels 22lr, or CF? Do you use a cleaning rod, or a patch worm kit (weed eater line), or another DIY method??

I might still have a guide from my Handgun Siloutte days. I will ck.

Brownells carries bore guides for T/C's but I don't see any for rimfire...maybe one can be adapted?

All the TC boreguides I have seen listed were for CF, maybe someone has one laying around in their "parts" drawer and see this.

JeffPPC;
thanks for looking, I appreciate the effort.

I took a Hornet piece of brass and bored the base out then sized the neck down. The extractor will scratch the heck out of the rod if you don't cover it.

Yes remove barrel from frame.
Cheapest bore guide/muzzle protector in the world. The barrel of a ball point pen. The hole inside is tapered just like the outside. Cut back the small end till your cleaning rod just passes thru. Slide over the rod, hold against the muzzle as you clean the bore. Good for calibers up to the diameter of the pen.
