Tasco High Country Scope(Taiwan)

Even cheap china Tasco's are a world better than a BSA
No experience with THAT particular model but
it does look like a nice model with nice features.

However its auction price seems to be getting into the realm of being a gamble since the seller does not accept returns
I do try to find sellers who at least accept returns with most things

I think you would be hit or miss on the High Country. I was always a fan of the Jap Tasco's and have had a few of the High Country scopes. Have a High Country sitting in the scope pile right now, believe it is Jap but cant remember. I would by a newer scope for a little more money unless you want a gloss scope. I was just never very happy with the HC scopes. The Jap Tasco though I would actually take over a lot of the old Redfields.

I do try to find sellers who at least accept returns with most things. I also look at the feedback %ages and at the negative remarks as well. Sometimes you'll find negative remarks that are silly and not injurious, but other times they are serious red flags. When the binocular seller burned me I took my time and gave feedback that was detailed and gave a very clear warning to future buyers that the chances of losing their money were very high.

That is a prudent practice, and I try to do the same after having been burned by a sellwr who sis not accept returns. The Bausch & Lomb Zephyr binoculars looked great in the pictures and in fact looked great when they arrived. However the focusing adjustments were frozen tight and unmovable.

I think the Tasco Japan made 8x40s are pretty cool. I'd say they were ahead of their time. First 30mm tube I ever got.
