Tarnished Pills

I recently bought 1100 105 bullets off a member on here. They were Berger, JLK, & Sierra. they were all in sealed boxes and around 15 years old. When i opened them up i found that they are all extremely tarnished. The seller would of never known this unless he opened the plastic tape sealing them. What is the best way to clean them up without leaving any chemical residue on them affecting accuracy or the barrel?

Being tarnished will not be a problem, but a quick run in a tumbler using ss pins will make em shiny again...

I would throw a batch in the vibratory cleaner and run them a few hours and see how they turn out. If they didn't come out clean, I wouldnt worry about it as it won't affect accuracy or performance.

I have polished some in the same media (Corncob) and vibrator I use for my cartridges. They come out just like new.

rinse them in a bath of lemishine and warm water. I've run bullets that had moly on them with brass in my vibratory, and it removes that stuff in a few hours...

Not sure if the brass in there made a difference or not...

I don't think I'd put them all in at once, thats like 17 lbs of bullets, probably wouldn't want to mix up the brands anyway. The tumbler does work on bullets though...or anything else that needs polished.

The hollow points can collect walnut or corncob media, and a little laborious to pick out.

I purchased some Sierra Pro Hunter bullets from a shooter who stop shooting. The bullets were at least 10 years old and were tarnished also. There was no difference at all that I could detect with regards to performance. My best advice is this leave them alone, you might do more harm than good - just go shoot them.
