target pit crews

just reading the daily bulletin and reading about the AZ match and saw the photo of the target crews.i dont have the first idea of there role or the role they play.is there any sites or links to such info.i have never shot in comp but find this interesting.

Their main job is running the target frames up and down, and marking the shots on the target. They usually switch from shooting to working the pits...
Never seen anything on the web about it though...

Gary:
Preacher is correct, they are shooters whose turn it is to work the target carriers. A shooter is squadded into a group assigned to a firing point and they take turns shooting, scoring and working the targets. In the photo you can see the spotting disk in the bullet hole and the red scoring disk showing the score for the shot,by it's location around the frame). The sport is much older than radios or high end optics so this is how the information is communicated.

The match shot yesterday was a Palma match which was first shot in America during a competition between the U.S. and Ireland in 1876. A highpower match will be shot at the same range at the end of the month that has been shot every year since 1873. The sport is as challenging now as it was then.

If you are interested in this type of shooting, long-range.com & nationalmatch.com are forums for it.
