I recently shot in a 300 yard reduced match (MR-63 and MR-63FC targets). I don't know who made the target faces, but the the lines on the targets were all but invisible with less than 20 power under perfect conditions and it took a bit more than that if the light wasn't right. I didn't have anything to measure the line width with, but they looked about 1/16" to maybe 1/8" to me when I was in the pits.
Shooting F-class, holding off was significantly harder than a 600 yard face or LR face due to a lack of terrain features.
Here is my question:
Do the target manufacturers vary with the width of their lines (scoring circles and the #'s)? Is there a manufacturer that stands out as having the best uprange visibility on their targets?
I am trying to get F-class started at my home range, but the place is a mirage-a-thon most of the year. I would like to give the competitors the best possible chance of seeing the lines on the target.
Thanks,
Keith
