Tannerite... but 20 POUNDS??

There’s a video of a guy shooting tannerite in an old riding lawn mower about 20 yards away and losing his leg to a piece of shrapnel.
 
Know that this activity is actually illegal. It's a bomb and just because you are not prosecuted, does not make it ok. People always try and go bigger and better, and there is real dangers. I would rather not hear about people blowing up a friend or killing a loved one trying to show off. "NOT SAYING PEOPLE HERE ARE"
 
It wasn't too many years ago, A little party that some friends were having for a groom-to-be turned deadly when they let the land-owner take a shot at some , It was some stupid situation, like they were shooting 10 pound jars less than 50 yards back,,
 
Tannerite is legal, for now. With knuckle heads using larger quantities and attaching it to objects or inserting it inside objects they are creating a destructive device, especially when you watch the youtube videos and see the shrapnel flying around.

How long will it be before some legislation restricting Tannerit is introduced?

Personally, I have no use for it.

Please provide us with a reference to the legal code that makes this illegal because I know for a fact that there are no federal regulations limiting how much Tannerite you can buy or set off, there might be some states that have laws but I'm not aware of any.

The substance itself has no limits but when you cause an explosion of a certain size when your in cuffs for domestic terrorism we can debate who is right
 
A friend and I did this on his place.


A couple of weeks later he had a visit from Homeland Security. They wanted to speak to me as well, but luckily I had already left for a hunting trip.

Someone else that we knew that didn't have anything to do with this, other than he was a spectator, was also brought in. Since HLS wouldn't say much, only thing we can think of that happened was this other person was talking about it, someone that didn't like him called the authorities. This other person was the first to be talked to and he started naming names.

Oh, I see, you have no proof that it's against the law, you have no reference that it's illegal but you are going to claim that the Guv'ment is coming to get us.

There is only one law that is applicable on the federal level and that's a limit of 50 pounds of black powder explosives, as long as you don't posses 50 pounds or more of mixed Tannerite (notice I specifically said mixed as it's a binary explosive and each constituent part isn't defined as an explosive) then you are legal. You can have more than 50 pounds of unmixed Tannerite legally because it's not considered and explosive until it's mixed.

The only reason Home Land Security or any legal authority would show up at your house would be to find out why you are blowing things up, not because you had Tannerite. If you blew up a hot water tank and people reported that the explosion made them feel threatened then you'll get a knock on the door too.

It appears that you want to argue. I have said only that blowing stuff up is against the law, and made no claim of any amount of material of any kind, be it tanorite or other. How you are charged is what the current DA wants to try. It could be as simple as disturbing the peace.
