Before I put an 8 twist barrel on Mr. Stevens I was shooting a 26" Savage factory varmint barrel with a 9.25" twist and was getting small groups with 95 VLDs and H1000. IIRC they chrony'd around 3200 FPS which should get you supersonic to around 1300 yards.

I was reading this again. I have a 10 twist 6x47 Lapua on the way. I may have to try the a maxes. I would have never thought they would shoot in a 10 twist. I think I'll be able to get em to shoot pretty fast. Man I was just planning on 55s through 90s. That'd be a big bonus.

Interesting. I can probably get my hands on a few A-maxies and try those out before the trip. VLD's, that'll be trickier. I do have a couple of boxes of 70 grain VLD's, but I'm assuming they would be all over the place at the first sign of a breeze, if they even make it across.
