TACTICOOL CLASS

I see a tactical class showing up at some matches. Do you need rails and gadgets and bells and whistles and suppressors and weights and bipods and so on and so forth, or can I just bring a hunting rifle?

OH....and mini weather stations and balistic apps and have a mill scope with lots of bells and whistles.

Evedentaly some don't get my brand of humor. Oh well. I'll ask in a not so fun way.....can I shoot my hunting rifle in the tac class?

PS...I went to a PRS match...I say "went" instead of "shot" because I got my ASS handed to me...even with a real cool gun!! Driving almost 2000 miles this weekend to shoot....so if there is another class I am able to shoot in I would like to try.

Post tomorrow when you're sober. You might not even want to know.

Wait.......won't this still be here tomorrow?
To answer youre original question TacTicool class is for guys like the OP in the other post who “Sprays” and doesnt chamfer his brass. And you Silly —-you should know you need one of those $10,000.00 Chassis Guns to place at all in about any PRS match. Coulda made substantial down payment with $ from all that gas you bought.

I think I understood you. Our club runs informal matches along the lines of the PRS matches and encourages people to basically give it a try with whatever rifle they have. Our range is limited to 300 yards which implies that the list of "required" equipment is a good range estimating ability and a dependable rifle. The club also do the same type matches with .22LR rimfire rifles.

The people who run the matches do have the bells and whistles and compete in serious sanctioned PRS matches but welcome those wanting to get their feet wet.

I believe that is the best way to gain engagement! Nearly everyone starts with production/factory firearms, being open and encouraging lets them participate. Being able to see the full spectrum of equipment once there lets them decide how far down the rabbit hole they want to travel.

Tactical within what discipline?
IBS?
NRA/CMP?
PRS?

The IBS rule confuses me. Looks like the ONLY qualifying rule is the gun has a magazine .

Here is a pic of a couple of tactical gun shooters at our last IBS match.

We have seen plenty of hunting rifles show up for our match’s. The only real rules are, it cannot be a single shot rifle and you have to have fun, be safe, ….. see the IBS page for real rules.

BTW, during our last match, a tactical rifle, Remington 700 that Dan Dowling squared and trued, shot the smallest 4 target agg of the day. Yep, he beat all light guns and heavy guns with that dasher!!!! A slicked up 700 with a good stock and mag can be extremely fast!

Depends on the sport and rules. In PRS you can if it's a .308 or .223 and bullet weight is under 178grn and velocity under 2800fps in .308 and under 77grn and 3000fps with the .223. Other than that you are in Open. Don't know about other sports.

Tac class in PRS means chambered in 223 or 308.

Off the tip of my head, I don't think there is anything else.

Production class in PRS has a price limit for MSRP of rifle and scope.

Open class is open...

There is. I listed it up a few posts. Ammo limits for Tac.
