Just an observation from a 600 yard benchrest match director.
At the Western Colorado Rifle and Silhouette Club we have a small award for the highest score shot each day and another award for the smallest group shot each day.
Last weekend we hosted the 600 yard Colorado State Championship.
After the shooting was done and everything was picked up and put away we handed out awards for the weekends match.
It was my pleasure to hand out the small group award for both days to our tactical shooters. This also happened at last years state shoot.
With the IBS rules allowing the tactical shooters to use a front rest and the high quality actions designed to feed from high quality magazines, it appears benchrest shooters have stumbled across a game changer.
Those mag fed rifle actions like Kelbly’s Atlas Tactical are really just spectacular. We also see a good many rifles built on Manners stocks that shoot very well.
Is this happening at other matches across the country?
