TackDriver wind reading

I found that if you tried to shoot the straight tail wind, (it did come around every now and then), it produced about 1.5 inches of vertical.

I think that canyon out past 200 yards had something to do with that.

I didn’t make it to TD2 I understand the conditions were a little worse than TD1
not sure if TD2 had a twister come thru like we did in 1 that twister knocked most of us out of the running. Not much you can do when the wind is blowing canopies up the road

Take your time and find your condition whatever that is for you and wait for it is the
only tip I can share from my experience
I found another target last night by the time I had shot one score and one group I had found my condition that was repeating consistently enough that I only shot one sighted on target 4and 6
the next day it would still come thru but come thru faster

Anyone care to comment on the effects of the break in the trees on the left side at roughly 200 yards? Seems to me that flag would be fairly important!

Condition wise I’ve got to agree with Tim. Just figure out something and wait for it. I shot mainly a quartering green.

The Elephant in the room we are not talking about is the crazy flyers you get going straight up or down. I think those are from the cliff-face in front of the targets.

I had 2 of those.

Thanks Jim. I wondered if anyone was going to mention them. They looked like fairly natural wind tunnels to me.
I did at the beginning of this thread. Or maybe on the other thread ...i can't remember ...
Another like it down at the berm on the right but it's grown up more in 2yrs.

Thanks JMAYO. As someone who will only get to shoot Orangeburg one time a year at the best, it helps to get insight from you folks who shoot there regularly. The more we know, the more competitive we all become.

It is great fun to talk about the latest or greatest cartridge / bullet / powder / primer combo. Lets face it, we are all looking for the perfect answer or we wouldn’t be here doing this. We would be looking for the perfect answer in some other field.

But, Mr. Cline has told us from the start that the tackdriver would be won by the best shooter, not the best whizzbang. And that has been true. So, the aim here is to help us all become better shooters by understanding the range a little better.
