Tac Ops-Mike Miller post

Post is locked on the gunsmithing forum. My almost 80yr old memory was finally awakened last night. I do remember Mike Miller. In the past we exchanged emails. Mike is the real thing and is a great shooter.
I think the concerns, mine for sure, were the accuracy and measurement claims. Oh yeah, the $7,000 rifle price. I'm sure the guy produces fine rifles or Mr Miller wouldn't have purchased them.
 
Mike Miller is the real deal, if he says it shoots, it shoots. Mike Miller was once a big time skeptic of TacOps rifles btw, until he shot one.

The attention to detail on these rifles is insane, every hex bolt on the Anschutz rail for example is perfectly timed. Every edge is radiused. My barrel is hand engraved, back when they had a person that could perform that level of work before retiring (dying art in the US). The details put into TacOps rifles are well documented on the internet, I'm not going to spend time pointing it all out. I believe someone, it may have even been Mike Miller, who aptly described these rifles as the "Hattori Hanzo of rifles".

These aren't benchrest guns, they are "working guns". They don't have stock rudders nor are they designed to be shot from a SEB rest. They don't have 6 oz triggers. Etc. Etc. These rifles aren't built for this community, I can understand where some of the skepticism on here comes from. But its pretty unbecoming for people to attack a brand they have no experience with.

PS - I didn't pay close to $7K for my TacOps, not sure where that figure is being floated from. But I purchased mine a while ago.

Mr Thomas I don't think you read my post. I said Mike Miller is the real deal. No it is not a BR rifle and will not shoot as well as a BR rifle, but if you will read the other thread about shooting zeros and ones stepped on folks toes that know better. Nobody said the other Mike did not build a quality "SNIPER" rifle.

My comments weren't necessarily directed at you. Just providing my insight as an actual owner of a TacOps rifle.

But yes, different tools for different missions :cool:

I can take the most precise benchrest rifle in the world to a PRS match, and I probably won't do very well with it, even though on paper it may be the most precise rifle there. Just like how someone could take a LE .308 rifle with a 21.75" barrel that shoots 168 SMK's at 2650 fps and probably not be competitive in 1,000 yard benchrest match.

It's why precise rifles can come in very different forms.
