Tac Ops-Mike Miller post

In fairness, smiths here talk about how these custom actions often lack their desired pin fall. So, in some respects, custom actions are getting partially re-worked.

Jackie used the word 'true'. There is a difference between truing and setting ignition timing.

Yup, that's correct. He replied to a comment about TacOps re-working custom actions with a comment that implied it was suspect - relating it to a previous famous gunsmith who talked about trueing-up a Panda.

Either way, I don't really care about what they do and don't do. I don't want to spend $5-6K (or whatever it is) on a rifle like that. I've shot one a few times and it was a nice rifle, but I wasn't shooting it under the best conditions to see what it was capable of. It was shooting 168 and 175 SMKs (FGMM) at 1K yards, with a short barrel, and a Density Altitude of 0 to -600. Hardly ideal conditions for those bullets.

In any case, this thread is way past it's prime and doesn't do this forum any good. It's a level of arguing I expect out of other/more-popular forums. It's nitpicking 3rd hand information about what TacOps does or doesn't do.

In the last page I posted a link to a thread, where in a inexperienced shooter took his Xray-51 out with 175gr fgmm and was shooting.1s. Not sure why we are still throwing shade at something you’ve never seen before, yet according to people who have seen it, it works as advertised. Also, he builds for 800+ alphabet agencies worldwide.

I think you guys put TacOps out of business with this thread.. I tried to go to the website and got nothing...

Something's up with the domain name. It was updated on 2/25. I suspect it lapsed (intentional or not) and someone grabbed it. The website was up on 2/10 according to internet archive sites. Here's one from late 2021: http://web.archive.org/web/20211226075438/http://tacticaloperations.com/

Not only have I "seen" them before, I have fired TacOps rifles and watched them FAIL.

Obviously Tac Ops is very good at marketing, no doubt. The smith that was truing up Stolle actions was truing the threads, so to speak, on a manual lathe. Not real bright, and deserved to be shut down. There is a big difference between that vs reworking the ignition timing. The prior work is essentially calling out the manufacturer as putting out an inferior product. Just stupid in my opinion. Carry on! Lol.
