TAC in .223

23.5gr with a light crimp. Doesn't seem to want to shoot worth beans without the crimp. Very close duplicate of BH blue-box 75-77gr loads.

24.2 grains tac, win. brass, 77 grn sierra 2.260 o.a.l. shoots right with my best load of, 24 grains vv n140 same every thing else!

I started using TAC because of the price point and availability in my shtf 223 loads, quantity). I have since experimented with it with 69 SMK's,24.8 gr) and 75g gr. Hornady's,24.0 gr.). It shoots as well as my favorite load of N201, and much more reasonably priced.

i'm shooting 23.6 grains with wolf sr mag. br-4s work great too. 23.6 is about max in my chamber. avg 2680 fps out of my douglas 18', 7' twist AR. be careful if you have a match chamber, pressure can spike faster. check your chamber specs before you go above that. sierra manual lists 24.0 as max out of a NATO chamber--2.550.

Hi all Im new to this reloading and love the advice.
I have a AR15 1-7 twist 18inch barrel. I have CCI primers. 69gr Sierria matchking bullets and TAC powder. I shoot from 100Mtrs out to 600Mtrs in UK weather so never that hot lol. I am thinking of 24grain of powder? will this be enough or too much? I need accuracy please kind people.

That charge might be a little low. After working up to ensure there aren't any pressure signs, I think you'd find accuracy nodes some where between 25.3 and 26.2

Thank you so much people I think I will go with 24gr to start with and see what that produces at 300, 400, & 500 Yds. Ill get back to you once Ive done it on the 4th dec 2022;)

Back when I shot High Power reduced I used Tac and 62 grain bullets for the standing slow fire stage and sitting rapid fire It was too heat sensitive for prone rapid and slow fire as I was getting too much vertical toward the end of the string. I liked it for throwing very consistent charges with my Redding BR-30 powder measure.

24.0gr in LC brass with 77's was my load when I was still loading for shortline. With 80's I would run 25.4gr in LC brass. Most of the load data doesn't mimic the performance I got IMO.

TAC is a nice powder, I got good accuracy in my 223 with it, but FWIW, in my 223AI it was amazing with 77 SMK’s, just over 1/4 MOA at 100 yds.
