TAC 40 - Tim Claunch

Wanted to show some targets from past weekend that I shot using Tim Claunch TAC 40 and a barrel he cut for me..probable shouldn’t give away my secret, but his work deserves to be shown. All these are 600 yard F-Open targets..

Someone asked me today what case the TAC-40 was based on, and if it is Improved? I did not have the answer, anyone know?

I just looked this up yesterday and found it is another 6br improved cartridge fitting almost directly between the BRDX and the Dasher

Thats exactly what I asked for. I wanted a longer neck on the Dasher, its only a smidgen, but works out well.

Great shooting. Glad that Etarget scored on a 308 cal bullet. Very impressive shooting sir. The TAC40 lives on. Didn't Bowling shoot that for like a year without dropping a point at 600 yards?

He shot 6 different venues one summer, not dropping a point, and set national record that Shawn Broussard broke. Brian has moved on to higher ground, (better gunsmiths,there have been several) and no longer shoots TAC 40
That very summer at St Louis is when Jim Fowler inquired about who was doing Bowlings barrel work. We all wish him the best of luck.

I realize this is a few years old but am intrigued. What brand of brass are guys using to take advantage of the longer neck of the TAC40? Norma? Is there a reamer print that someone can share or is the reamer orderable from PTG?

Standard Lapua 6br or Alpha Dasher bumped back .014". The added neck length is from a shorter headspace, not lengthening the chamber.
