Well that was anti-climactic. No protracted build. No epic struggle. No pondering all life's biggest questions. Just a high-quality rifle, perfectly matched scope, sensibly approached, well-prepared load and VOILA, predictable results.

VERY well done Rem06! It's nice when a plan comes together, isn't it?

Agreed!
Mine rocks on 44.2 grains of most any powder with most any bullet at .010 ish off the lands.

i got 44gr loaded up to run today just to back speed down a bit to 2700fps.

what is a good speed @ to run the 165?

Sierra 5th seems to run everything up to 2700fps and only a few to 2750fps

this is being used for Pa woods hunting whitetail, he couldn't believe i could get it set out to 300yds but now he will be able to practice at that.

I don’t normally think about speed I’ve only checked a couple times, once while shooting 155 Scenars on 44.2 gr H4895 @ 2850 ish the other was 165 BTSP over IMR 4064 mid 2600 iirc

I Love when a easy plan comes together! I had a bit too much drop at 300yds @12" so i went back to 45gr which was @9" with 1.1" high at 100 and @ 2" low at 200

Next 308 i get i'm going to try 150's

I really like TIKKA!

i think i am correct saying the 300yd aim point on a V3i duplex reticle the point on the lower thick part of the reticle where it turns thin is 12 holdover on max pwr in 2nd focal plane?

i should have tested that (and still may?)

I run my T3 Sporter @ 2680 fps with 44.3gr. of Varget, a Nosler CC 168, and a Fed 210M primer. the bullet is seated to 2.850" COAL. I can use the Nosler 175 RDF in the same load, but seated to 2.925" COAL, with the same results. The SD on this load is 8 fps with neck turned brass, or 14 without turning the brass.

i am moving on to a Winchester model 70 lightweight .243win laminated stock supporting a 3x9x40 Buckmasters now but think i am switching it to the same scope on the Tikka T3x above. Leupold V3i 2.5x8x36 in Burris sig-z with the fiber inserts, no cant

I couldn't help get one from Euro optics for myself!

that will be a new post.

My tikka 308 is probably one of the most accurate hunting guns I own with a couple hand loads. Unbelievable really. Nice going. you've got a fine rifle.

I ordered 100 155 Berger Hunting VLD's for deer loads, picking them up today for next box of 50.

ill report back later with results.
