T3 magazines

Hey all,

Just wondering if any one has had problems with their T3 mags not feeding properly and only being able to get 4 in and the follower jamming up. A local roo shooter was telling me that he had a tikka t3 that was the best rifle he had until the magazine started playing up (the feed lips wore away at the front until the round popped up and the back of the round dropped down and the bolt couldnt push the shell). I would of thought that using plastic in the magazine would be asking for trouble, what do you guys think.

Thanks guy,s

I started shooting Tikkas just over a year ago. After my first T3 I fell in love with the rifles for their accuracy and now own 4 of them. Great guns for the price! I own T3's chambered in 6.5 Swede, 308 win, 223, and 243. None of which have displayed the type of problem that you're describing but that may be due to the fact that they're not very old. I guess I'll have to watch closely as they sure are proud of those plastic clips if you need to replace one. The cheapest I've seen one is $70!

Have been using my T3 in 6.5x55 on coyote in below freezing weather. Have not seen any feeding problem. Don`t see any wear on the magazine.

Any idea what the round count on the roo gun would be Mitch?
I'd suspect it would be in the multi thousands. Only p dog shooters in Nth America would get through as many rounds thinking about it

Absolutely flawless feeding so far but it's not even a year old yet. 22-250 and it is just the 3 rounder. Jason

Hi Chris,

The rifle in question has about 2000 rounds down the tube and is on its second mag, I fixed the original one by putting a dob of loctite 406 on the end of the feed lips and shapeing back into the original shape. BTW its a stainless varmint in 223 with the 8 twist barrel.
