T3 clip too short for OAL cartridges

My factory 223 T3 with 1:8 barrel with extended magazine won't accomodate 53 gr bullets seated 5 thou from rifling. It's ridiculous that they install a barrel to handle long bullets then install a short clip.

Anyways, I've disassembled the plastic clip and will be grinding-out the plastic plate dam and installing an aluminum block. This aluminum block will face the cartrrideg head stamp.

Has anyone does these modifications or does anyone in North America sell T3 jobber clips ?

I believe CDI Precision makes and AICS-compatable aluminum bottom metal for the T3 (at least the 308 style). I'm not sure if Tikka's 308 and 223 bottom metals are different though? I think AICS 223 and 308 size magazines have the same outside dimensions though. Could call them and ask.

Then if you go with the AICS system, you wont have to modify mags, I think it will accommodate up to 2.5" OAL.
