T/C Venture

Has anyone seriously put one of these to the test? How was/is accuracy with it? Contemplating a 7-08 that will get fed 120NBT. Surely with their accuracy guarantee this thing should shoot lights out with a tailored load.

I trades for one with TC 3-9 scope on it , toke it to the range and with 52 grain Berger hpbt with 24.1 grains vht133 it shot 3/8" groups! Nice trigger too. Oh in case you haven't figured it out it was a 223. Nice gun but I traded it. JVON

They shoot awesome with handloads. Had a 7mm Rem Mag that would put 3 shots into one hole with 168gr Berger VLDs. Center to center, my two best groups during load testing measured 0.178" and 0.133" @ 100 yards! And that is the gods honest truth.

Also had one in a 300 win mag that shot unbelievably well too. Very first trip to the range with it to test 6 different load recipes using 200gr Accubonds, it shot 5 out the 6 groups under 1/2" @ 100 yards.

I liked that action so much that I recently built a new 6.5 rem mag on a Venture action. I originally had that caliber built on a Savage action with a McGowen barrel, but shot it out. So I junked the barrel and sold the action, then bought a Venture 338 win mag from a fella on here, tore the barrel off and put on a Shilen in 6.5 rem mag. Haven't fired a single round through it yet, but from my experience with Ventures, I know she'll be a tack driver.

My gunsmith who built my new 6.5 rem mag even said he couldn't believe how "true" my Venture action was when he was blueprinting it to the barrel. Also said all 3 lugs already had almost full contact to recoil surface and didn't need lapping, but he gave them a touch up anyhow.

Nothing to worry about at all with finding good accuracy from a TC Venture. Plus they guarantee 1 MOA accuracy that you will no doubt be able to best. But best of all, they are 100% American made :)

Thats what Im looking to hear. Now if someone would make a laminate stock to fit the Venture. My best friend bought his stepson a .308 for Christmas last year. I got some trigger time with it to get scope rough set for him. Rifle hung right around an inch. But was curious just what these rifles were really capable of.

I know. The factory stock is the only thing that leaves me wanting more...

I measured the action screw spacing on my Venture action (magnum length), and it is almost identical to a Rem 700 magnum action. A little less than 1/16" difference, so A person may be able to utilize a 700 stock and bottom metal with slight modifications. Everything else looks like it would match up as well, ie; recoil lug, tang, receiver...
The only puzzle to solve is the magazine, but I think it could be done with a little magic from a good stock maker.

Here are photos of the 2 groups I fired during load testing with the 7mm Rem Mag Venture using 168gr Berger VLD bullets. Notice that even the difference in charges of RL-22 were 1 full grain apart :)

And 2 photos of the groups i shot with the Venture 300 Win Mag using 200gr Accubonds. Ok, ok...I suppose the one group is a hair over 1/2 MOA :)
I thought I had pics of the other groups on photobucket, but I guess not. I'll try to post them when I get back from work in a week and a half if you'd like.
