T/C Icon

Have a T/C Icon that in 243 that is one sweet shooter . Have had the 700 VPS for several years and was happy with .75"-1" groups with the occasional .5" . But this Icon just hammers , .75" is on the high side of groups for it with occasional .25" groups .
But most are .4"-.6" , also I am speaking of three shot groups here for both guns .
But I still think that is dang good accuracy , espeacially for a hunting rifle . Seems it shoots everything from 75-100 gr. great . The 700 is a bit more fussy , usually got to use the Berger bullets to get .75" from it .
Anyone else here have one ?
Kenneth

Kenneth,
I have had several Icon rifles. they all shot lights out with handloads. I have had (4) .308win, and a 6.5 creedmoor. I couldn't find components for the creedmoor when I bought it, so I bought a box of factory ammo to get some brass. I used it to sight in with. after a couple shots used for getting on paper and dialed in, I used the rest for groups. all 3 shot groups except for one 4 shot group. not a single group over 1/2". I could never get a-max bullets to shoot as well with handloads, but I also didn't try hard. I used berger VLD hunting bullets. I ended up seating them to fit magazine (it is a hunting gun). I had several groups with that gun that were unbelievable. I just traded it off a few weeks ago. I just sold my last .308 the week before Christmas. It shot extremely well also. Both of mine were just too heavy to lug around where I hunt, and the wood was way too pretty to scratch up. After being safe queens for a couple years, I figured what's the point of having them if they will never get used. I think they were awesome guns, but too heavy for mtn hunting. They have been discontinued for several years now.

6.5 CM in the Precision Hunter Icon. What a sweet shooter!
Shoots factory Hornady or my reloads into one hole for five shots and have used it to take an axis deer, wild pig and a whitetail.

Yes sir , I like mine too and the wood is nice . Wife got it for me a couple Christmas's ago .
Would like to have one in a larger caliber 308 or preferably 30-06 , but not sure if they made them in long actions . Will look it up when I get off here .
Mine has the spoon bolt handle , not to fond of that , contacted T/C to try and get a regular one but they never answered , was hoping that might still have some laying around .
Haven't hunted with it yet , hopefully I'll take time to get it in the woods this coming year .
Have a 721 in 30-06 that is my go to gun and seems to be hard for me to grab anything else .
Thanks for the responses , Kenneth

I hunt deer and hogs with my TC Icon Precision Hunter in .308 and handload Berger 168 VLDs (orange box) for it. For a factory gun it shoots very well. I've taken many animals with this combo. I shot a good 10 point buck yesterday with it, bang flop. As posted earlier by Fryeguy, it is a bit heavy to hunt with but with a 22 inch barrel its easy to move around in a blind.
