T/C Icon in 223cal

Hi. I was reading an artical on the T/C Icon an it sounds like a nice gun. I am thinking of getting a new rifle in 223 an was wondering if anyone has one an could tell me what they think of it. Thank's Shane

Hey Shaner, I've been cruising the Shot Show in Vegas for the last 2 days and spent some time in the Thompson booth. The Icon Precision Hunter is really a nice rifle. Good fit and finish and nice wood. The 3 locking lug bolt head gives you a 60 degree bolt lift and the fat bolt body makes for quick cycling. The loading port is smaller than a standard Remington so I believe the action is stiffer plus it is mounted in an aluminum bedding block system. The bolt handle is also removable and can be changed to one of their other styles. 1:12 twist for the 223. They guarantee sub 1'' groups with factory loads. 5R rifling. I bet with hand loads it can be bettered. Single stack mag. Adjustable trigger. I think this rifle is under rated. If the tinkerers could get a hold of this action by its self it would be the basis for an extremely accurate rifle. If you wanted an entry level rifle the T/C Venture is not bad either in a composite stock, no bedding block and the action is a little lighter. They still guarantee 1 inch with this version. Their MSRP is about $449 I think, the Icon Hunter was about $1,100 if I recall. I'd buy one if I was in the market, anyway that is my 2 cents.

I just bought an ICON Hunter in 300 WM on GB. It didn't come with the single stack magazine. Very well put together and good looking gun.
