Switch rifles using same action

anyone here use same action and trigger and scope set up to switch to different stock and barrel for Fopen and FTR?

Thinking about using my Borden and Vortex golden eagle to build a back up FTR rig

That unrealistic? I don't shoot but one match a month so I don't see a huge issue

The 2 stocks won't know the difference.
Great way to save A LOT of money.

I just was thinking that and have a back up would be nice. Should take two minutes to swap over and adjust scope for rifle zero and go shoot

Only concern was bedding and taking action in and out a couple times a year

thats what the unlimited sighters are for, btw thats is a great idea. what kinda stock you going to run for FTR?

Did they ever expand the range in Valdosta

Myself I take mine out of the stock every time I switch barrels, and I switch barrels often.... lol
(even multiple times on one same day and/or week)

Eric not worried about getting on paper. Had small concern of weakening bedding. I took rifle apart flew to AZ. Mounted scope on rail and put action in stock. Was in 10 ring on first sighter at 1000. Had a 485 yd zero prior to disassembly :)

Saw a switch barrel rig built on a Mauser action. The 'smith made an aluminum barrel wrench and the 3 barrels shared the same profile. Enabled the owner to swap either one out/in without ever removing the action from the stock. Looked pretty slick.

thats a rifle that knows what distance your shooting at, she is alive!

you leave scope on?

Yes, I leave the scope on.
In fact, wouldn't have to un-stock it either, and could just swap the barrells, but choose to un-stock to avoid scrapping the barrel channel with the barrel threads/tenon when sliding them in under the scope.

She is happy with the new 200.20x Bullets too. Can't wait to take her out next match.

The backup rig will be in an XIT stock

thats going to be a shooter then i hear nothing but good about those stocks.

Papertowel cardboard tube under the barrel when you unscrew it to prevent that on the stock

The only issues I see are you probably will beat up the bedding. I see a lot of rifles and its rare to see a bedding job without damage. Use studs to guide the stock on and off, that will help. Second, if you have something thats really hot, most guys will not want to touch anything, lol. I think you will end up buying a second action after you get tired of swapping things around, but it sure is worth giving a try.

I've seen a military piece built for doing what you describe, I think it was a Remington model not certain but it is out there, that said it may not be capable of the MOA you are looking for or the accuracy demanded by your type of shooting but with patience and a good gunsmiths help it could be your answer! And it wouldn't have to be broken out of the bedding every change or reset scope settings except to zeros already labeled into dope!
