Bought a 96 in the early 90s and it was my first 1000yd gun that I shot at Perry. Some army competitors were impressed with its accuracy but being a newbie to 1000yd competition, I was only in the middle of the pack. The accuracy made me wonder whether a purpose build match rifle in 6.5 would be a great 1000yd rifle. Someone else had a similar idea but with a modified 284
