SVSS Ed or Nightforce competition

Had a chance to compare the newer model nf comp, an older nf comp a March 40-60 epz hm and a Sved sightron this weekend.
The Sved was the clear winner in terms of brightness and clarity. The March comes in at less than half the weight and isn’t that far off in clarity and mine has tracked perfectly. Only question with the sved is will it make a difference and worth the weight you have to cut out elsewhere. I think it would be better to use in f class where the target is much harder to see than in br and you have more weight limit.

Edit, now see you’re talking about a heavy gun. If weight doesn’t matter why not? Id go Sved over comp.

I think 1000 br and F class is a better comparison and 34 mm. to 30 mm. scopes is is not a good comparison but the 40-60 has very little eye relief and as the power goes up eye relief goes down. 52 mm objectives don't let a lot of light in compared to a 60mm. so the Sightron 34 mm SVED are not suited for short range but well suited for long range and you can be well under the 17 light gun limit for long range. I have a 34 mm. 10-50x 56 March on a 13.5 short range heavy gun with no problem.... jim

Thanks everyone for all the info and advice. I decided on a Sightron SSSV Ed . Ordered from Lancexxx great to deal with

Scope just came in the mail. Now waiting on my rings to show up. So far really like the glass on it. The side focus seems like it will be awesome. Not crazy about the zero stop design but works. Turrets feel good.

Turrets are nice on mine, not to stiff but a solid click. The parallax is a good feature, glass is good as well.. it's just a big tank of a scope..

I should note that at my last weekly match, my SVSS jumped a couple clicks. I was advised to mitigate this by turning past where I want then coming back. For 2 clicks let's say, turn four then back two.

I had never had this problem before but now I know. Maybe be something every scope has, maybe not

Did it do it at a match? You got vertical and what? You can't really verify that except with a scope checker. I have seen with a couple Sightrons it takes a shot to settle the scope after a adjustment. This is known for many scopes so people don't like to make a last second adjustment.

Weekly match, NRA rules but just our gun club. No vertical issues.
Normally I don't make any adjustments once I begin for record.
That said, other wiser than I, have said "treat each shot as a sighter" or adjust so you can hold center versus holding off. I'm parsing these wise words as I practice and am building my own set of rules.

What happened as best I can explain it was several shots after an adjustment the wind calmed down and I was hitting center x which is always reassuring to know your aim point and impact point are aligned.

The next three shots all went right one after the other. I was curious as to what was happening so I kept holding center and as each shot went wide right for my last 3 shots. They were center of the 9 ring on the right.

I was fortunate enough to shoot a 2nd string that night so before that match (relay) started. I adjusted the scope to bring point of impact back to the center. The next group was fine.

Now as I type this I realize I need to double check torque settings and make sure that isn't a factor.

Moving forward, I'll move the turret past then bring it back. That should set any spring/element where it needs to be.

FWIW, the SVSS ED is a sweet scope and a pleasure to use
