I have a 223 load shooting the 85.5 Berger going about 2550 fps. My friend has a 223 load with the 69 SMK going around 3050 fps. He thought his load would do better at 300 yards due to its increased speed despite its lower BC. I thought this might be true although I expected my higher BC bullet would outperform the 69 smk at some greater distance. So I used the bison ballistics bullet comparator to figure this out.

Looks like despite being 500 fps slower the 85.5 berger should have less wind drift than the 69SMK at all distance past 75 yards. Then I thought ok how slow would I have to run the 85.5 Berger to match the wind performance of the 69SMK at 300 yards. The answer seems to be around 800fps. I find this result kind of surprising but that's what the ballistics calculator says.
