Supressor cleaning

Rimfire suppressors require cleaning because of how dirty the lead and powder are. The rounds also don't reach high enough pressure to blow debris out of the can like a centerfire rifle does. The only issue with cleaning is if the baffles are made out of aluminum...some cleaning compounds will etch/erode the aluminum.

Ok, another question. How long do you normally soak in CLR before changing it out? Made up a plastic tube with 2" PVC set the suppressor in it and filled with CLR last night. Stupid me thought about if a good idea but done it anyway, bent a piece of 1/8" copper coated welding rod and ran it up through the middle so I could lift it out of the pvc. Well the copper came off and some affixed itself to end of suppressor. Cleaned the rest of it off rod this morning and dumped CLR off into another clear plastic container so I could see how much gunk. Very little so far. My guess is what carbon is in it is probably pretty compacted over last 7 or so yrs? Should CLR be changed daily? Several days? 3-4 ounces might take a bit?? Thanks everyone for the information etc!
