Suppressors on hunting rifles??

I am jumping into the suppressor game. I have 3 on order as we speak. I will put one on the rifle my wife uses. Anything I can do to make the shooting experience better for her is a definite pro in my book. I shoot some big 30s and I want the suppression and recoil reduction that a can gives. 95% of my shooting is with hunting rifles. Why not try it since I do my own metal work? If I hate it, make a thread protector and get on with life? Some people hate change, some embrace it. To each his own and happy shooting.
You won't hate. Your wife will love you for it.

I really enjoy shooting suppressed. The added weight and length are well worth the benefits. Reduced muzzle blast and reduced recoil make even magnum rifles more enjoyable to shoot.

Also, I much prefer to hunt without ear plugs. A good suppressor allows you to take a shot without blasting your ear drums.

Funny thread. Suppressors/moderators are the norm in New Zealand and also in the UK where they are almost compulsory. They cost about 1/3 of the list price of a top of the line suppressor here in the US. Wouldn't want to hunt without one. (And, yes, your buddies in the field will still hear the shot unless they're in the next county.

On another site I visit often, they were talking about suppressors that Lyman will sell. Sonicore brand. $199 to $299 someone posted. Anyone here heard anything about that? aluminum tubes and stainless baffles.

Prices are cray in the US, this side of the big pond for a top of the range option your looking at around $200 and if you don't like it you throw it away and buy something else.
The expensive German made Freyr & Devik which imo is the best hunting suppressor goes for about $500

BTW I'd strongly consider a reflex style suppressor for hunting. They don't seem to be the norm here for some reason but certainly are in Europe and downunder. Less added length, larger volume for gases to circulate in before exiting subsonic, better 'tone' to the residual shot noise.

I’m 70 and pretty old school. Not gadget oriented, etc. A long time buddy has gotten into suppressing his hunting and varmint guns. He swears by them. The lack of a loud report is nice, but his guns look like bazookas and he has a large investment in “cans” as he calls them.
Not trying to start an argument but looking for a consensus on these.
You and I thought alike. I am 74 and now get to wear hearing aids after many many years of hunting and shooting in the field without noise suppression. I bought two cans a 22 caliber and a 30 caliber which I can switch around for the majority of my rifles. They are making some very nice Titanium cans specifically with hunting in mind as they are lighter and shorter. The rimfire is a hoot. I shoot sage rats and prairie dogs all day without shooting muffs. I even got my hunting partner to switch over and now we won't hunt with anybody that isn't shooting suppressed. Get shorter heavy barrels which help a lot and you can get current rifles threaded unless they are keepsakes. Try them I guarantee you will like them.

Short, light, and efficient…,

For a 9MM carbine or pistol, add a thermal and set up over bait for Coyotes at night.
Super easy to maneuver in our Deer tower stands…

Wow that is expensive. A mack bros zenith k is about the same and is 600ish.

I find it ironic how countries that have crazy gun restrictions are so free to let people suppress their guns, yet some states in the US absolutely prohibit their use.

I live in NYS, I have no chance of being able to use a suppressor.
