Suppressor, rimfire or centerfire ?

Probably been hashed out a few times but I have a suppressor for my centerfire rifles, is there any downside to buying a 1/2x28 cap for the muzzle and running it on my little 22lr. ? I know a 22lr is dirty and my suppressor is not serviceable. I “heard” once i shoot it installed on my centerfires it will clean itself from the 22lr. What says you guys ? Thanks much

Have a look at this.

CLP also make a suppressor cleaner, not sure it can be used in an ultra sonic cleaner.

Long story made short. I bought a savage 22lr. It shot just ok. I sold it to a cousin and recently bought it back. We screwed on a friend’s suppressor and the rifle simply came to life and shot much much better than it ever had. I know it’s the weight and harmonics that caused it. Took it off and it shot like junk again

You are correct on the added weight. Whatever weight the can added probably hit a good spot on the barrel as far as 'tune' goes. If you decide to buy a dedicated RF can, try to match the weight of your friends can.

I will try that. It’s no wonder people have tuners and the rubber rings on their barrels. What a difference it made

I've shot my centerfire cans on a rimfire just to see how they sounded, but I wouldn't make it a full time hobby of it, especially with the price of some cheaper 22 cans out there.

I can't believe shooting it again on a centerfire will magically clean it up.

Just another example of how high level RFBR tactics do trickle down to the hobby shooter that does not compete.

I clean my stainless steel baffles with CLR. Place them inside a Ziplock Bag with CLR and run it through the sonic cleaner.

What ammo were you using that the little Savage liked with the supressor?

I do have access to one. Any recommended cleaning solutions to use ?
Here is a whole setup or you can also just buy the A/B special cleaners..

My first can was for a 9mm. Second was a dead air mask for the 22. The third was a Rugged Mustang for the 22. Then a Primal to cover every caliber. I'm with the other folks just buy a dedicated 22 can. I mentioned the names of the two I own because I truly believe they are the best you can get. I've shot plenty of others and for whatever reason the 2 mentioned are in deed quieter. The Rugged Mustang is so versatile its crazy. And crazy lightweight. You won't be disappointed. I shoot almost everyday, and I always grab a 22 with a can on in the end. Just too much fun.

I've had a Silencerco Sparrow for years. Waiting for the paperwork to clear on a Huxwrx Flow 22 to go on a 10/22. The Dead Air Mask would be another one that should be at the top of the list. No $200 stamp necessary. Time to get more cans.

Don't do it. It is the lead that you won't be able to get out. I was told this by 2 can manufacturers
This! I used a muzzle device on my .22 pistol for rimfire challenge matches. It wasn't long before the ports in the muzzle device were crusted with a combination of carbon and lead. I had to use a drill bit to get some of the ports cleared out.

22 cans are cheap these days. I've seen them as low as $180. I paid ~$250 for a Jessies Girl 22 can. Most will work with 22 mag and other calibers. Be warned that if you shoot 22 mag or supersonic 22 lr ammo no can will eliminate the supersonic crack. Not even a centerfire can will do that.
