Suppressor forms approval times are surprisingly fast

Filed forms around 11am on January 1st and on January 2nd at about 10am I received the approval for a Diligent Defense Enticer L. Everything was done back in November up to filing. My LGS had ordered it and had it on hand as I had paid for it then and they agreed to hold it till January. 23 hours is about what it took. I really figured it would longe with many people doing as I did. Now, if they will just change the law where all we have to do is a form 4473 just like we do with a firearm purchase that will be a step in the right direction. Kinda wish I had not done a single shot trust through Silencer Shop because now that I put it on my 300BO with some sub loads I'm hooked.

I have been wondering how things will go after Jan 1st. Sometime between now and Easter I want to get one for my 300BO's. What is slowing me down is I don't know which one to get. What I want is the absolute quietest and first round pop is a big consideration. I purchased my first one a DA Mask from the local Scheels on a trust which was a total electronic submission and it took almost 15 months to come back. I'm hoping they get tired of spinning their tires for no financial gain and start selling them like handguns. 4473 and local sheriff background check.

I think the Silencer Shop kiosks have greatly contributed to the reduced times we are seeing. When I ordered my suppressor the listed wait time was 10 months. I used the kiosk and had it in under 5 months. That was 2 years ago. My son works at a gun store and he's telling me the wait time these days is weeks, not months.

I loaded some subs with 1680 powder yesterday using some pulled 165gr soft points and it was stupid quiet. Just heard action trying to work. Just above subsonic they sounded like a 22lr with the sonic crack. I chose the Enticer because it had high ratings, changeable end caps and was priced about $600. Being stainless it does add some weight.

I bought one locally a couple weeks ago. The salesman said to wait several days after the first to apply, that there would probably be a severe backlog.

My LGS has been trying to submit forms to ATF since around noon on the 1st. ATF site keeps blowing up. They have not been able to get any submitted since the 1st. ATF shutdown after Christmas and reopened the 1st the reason being to increase scalability to handle the load. Oppsie. I have one that was paid for and waiting for the 1st for submission. We'll see how long it takes.

I have 2 from Dec 5th that got approved on the 27th and they sent the wrong copy of the form 4 (CLEO) and they’re not showing in my dealer’s efiles, so we can’t print the ATF copies that have serial numbers and the approval signature, so they’re approved but not mine and may not be for several months...

My dad has 2 from Dec 9th and hasn’t heard a word of any kind.

It’s a mess. Don’t let anyone tell you it’s not.

Again, these were e-filed through silencer shop.

Maybe like @64Rambler mentioned about the silencer shop kiosk helping to smooth things. That's what I used.

There is absolutely no reason whatever that Form 4 approvals shouldn't happen as fast as NICS approvals.

I bought an AB-10 in late November through Silencer Shop. They are supposed to submit on the 2ND. We'll see I'm hoping for sooner than later.

Update:

I went to my dealer today to get a face to face answer. He told me that the site gets very busy and bogs down around 11 AM EST. He is getting quite a few in every morning until this starts. I am 5th in que for tomorrow.
I shot my 300 BLK with it and am pretty happy.

Funny, I just came from the local gun shop. A guy in there who put in paperwork last Nov, still waiting. Another put in after the 1st. 4 Days.

If he put in before Jan 1st he will have to re apply.

My LGS has been holding 2 suppressors for me (waiting on Jan 1) and I am curious how long it will take. Submit paperwork tomorrow.

I had a High Standard HD equipped with an integral suppressor. I discussed it with the guy who did the work and decided to pay the $200 instead of waiting to see the dam break. I can shoot it now while I am watching what happens during the flood.

Back in August my wait time was 2 days, getting ready to submit a Form 1 soon and waiting on a suppressor to arrive to my dealer.

Individual forms take less time than transfer to a trust. A very important detail when comparing approval times.
