Suppressor experts

I have a 9" Thunderbeast and it works great. Its on a 6X47L and I have been very impressed with it. My only "problem" is the long length. When you put it on a 22" barrel, you have, of course, a 31" barrel ! I've been thinking about a 5" Thunderbeast and was wondering if anyone has any experience with a 5" on a similar cartridge/???

I agree with what's been said. I am a big TBAC fan but for a semi-auto carbine I wouldn't go that route. I am extremely happy with Allen Engineering cans. You may require an adapter or to change the barrel profile a bit but they are excellent cans and a great value.

So there’s a ton of brands out there. What’s better on one vs the other

Going on a 16” 5.56
Look at surefire socom, one of the best at not changing poi... the rc2 is the newest model and is cheaper than the rc1, also has less back pressure. Which is a plus on a piston gun if you ever go that route.

The best for me is one that works on all of my threaded rifles. A dedicated 223 can will be a bit quieter but won't work on anything else. I went with a 30 cal full auto rated and haven't been disappointed. There are a lot of good 1's.

I used to have that issue until I started using antiseize in the threads.

That's good to know. I thought never seize would be like grease. Once I used the Silencerco quick attach system I quit with the direct thread altogether. It just so much easier and I do not shoot the kind of groups you guys do. Mine stays on working/hunting rifles.

This is all great info. Thank you

I do not shoot any bolt actions or other calibers. My guns are Fclass rifles only. Plus my pistols and my AR.

So this would truly be for AR only

Once you have selected what suits your taste, you will love it and probably won't shoot without a suppressor again. The only gripe I have is that they leave an AR extremely dirty. I did install a Sentry SLR adjustable gas block because you can tune it to only send enough gas to work the bolt properly. With the gas block properly tuned and the suppressor eliminating recoil, I can watch my bullet hit the target (or miss) through the scope. I recently bought a Remington 783 with a 16.5" heavy barrel in .223 cheap and it is also a blast to shoot suppressed.

Thunder beast is best on the market imo too... many times your point of impact changes with and without a suppressor. The thunder beast doesnt change the POI. Thats the biggest quality, stays accurate where its sighted in the best out of any...

How does this work? My cans cause a change of impact- straight down. I always assumed this was a result of the can adding weight to the barrel at the muzzle shifting POI down. How does Thunderbeast avoid this?

It's never bothered me because it has always been 100% repeatable.

How does this work?

I'm curious too. It seems a suppressor changes the barrel dynamics, because you are hanging a lot of weight on the end. I assume they mean the point of impact doesn't change if you take the suppressor off and put it back on.

Magic.... Something about unicorns with special horseshoes, I don’t know exactly, but that’s my best guess

Now that makes sense to me. My hastily put together Form1 cans do that though.

I find very little POI difference when I put my Ti 30P1 on. A sub 16oz can on a heavy varmint (Lilja Tactical taper) seems to stay within .5MOA, which is inside what I usually shoot that rifle. My ARs, 3/4"+ shift between on off but they shift is repeatable.

admittedly, I don't have a really big sample size with cans on bolt action rifles.
