Suppressed 22lr or PCP

What would you do? Just looking for something a little different for shooting at the house. Have a good berm, not looking to be quite because of neighbors. More for myself not having to wear hearing protection, and not getting my 2 dogs all twisted up!! Just want to shoot small steel plates at 50 yds or so.
Thanks
Bill

22 suppressed will more likely be cheaper and easier, but more hassle. PCP is straight to your door and sky is the limit for price. Even an entry level pcp can be quite accurate, though.

Do you want to jump through the feds hoops, or do you want to spend $$$ on the pcp's supporting infrastructure?

22lr subsonic is easy button. 300blk with 220smk subs is stupid equal quiet, and hits like a freight train. I handload 220 SMK subs out of a 10.5" 300blk, crazy accurate and silent. Only thing you hear is the bolt moving. I had a couple next to me at the range shooting it, wife asked me if I was shooting a nail gun. Husband said no he's shooting a 22lr suppressed. I said no I'm shooting these and handed them a loaded 220smk sub round. Hahaha a lot of fun.

I priced a good PCP and decided to go with a D A Mask. Scheels had them on sale for 399 and a 80 credit if you signed up for their credit card. They also made the prints and pics very easy. I mostly use quiets and most shots are about 20 yards.

padom what suppressor and powder do you use for your blackie? I have a bunch of Scheels dollars ready to spend and I'm going to get a 30 cal can.

I'll say that my supressed 22 is one of the most fun guns I have to shoot. I don't have land to shoot and live in a neighborhood, but still shoot it in my basement sometimes, lol. With my wife upstairs, the only way she knows I'm shooting is she hears the bullet hitting the steel trap.

A bolt gun with subsonic 22lr is silly quiet.

I'm shooting a 300blk AR I built

10.5" Rainier Ultramatch Shilen barrel
SBR
Rugged Surge 7.62
Geissele SD-E trigger
Leupold Mark 4 MR/T 1.5-5x20 CMR2

220SMK subs load development 50yd with CFE Black. Not only are they silent, hit like a freight train but they are also very accurate.

Also, here my 125 TMK/H110 supers load. 7 groups, 5 shots each @ 100yd final load confirmation with a Gen2 Razor on it to test accuracy, bipod and rear bag from the bench. 5for5 after this on steel @ 300, 400, and 500 Meters. Flat out shoots.

If you are shooting a .22 LR, even with a suppressor, you should still wear hearing protection. These ear-bands are convenient and effective for suppressed rimfire and can get the noise down under 95 dB. I like the Howard Leight NRR25 with the soft foam pads, but these similar Sellstroms are on sale now:

28 seconds of Daily Exposure of 115dB Suppressed .22 LR (with a better than average silencer) can cause hearing issues:

Without access to a compressor already, get the 22. PCP guns are awesome but I would have gone springer had I not already had a scuba compressor from diving.

My 10/22 suppressed is slightly louder than my 25cal FX with moderator. My savage tr 22 bolt suppressed is the quietest using subsonic ammo.

In chart above it shows a suppressed 22lr at115 db. Unsurpassed 145 . Spring guns unless those considered a magnum spring come in under 100 db usually 95 ,96 db from what I have read. My Diana 75 is super quiet compared to my Tx200 that is 96 db.

50 and 100 yardgroups with my Diana54 in .22. All my springers will shoot in the zeros at 25 yds. Yes there is a learning curve, scares some afraid of a little work. That was part of the challenge to me. The 50 yd target my wife shot, she is not a shooter, first attempt with D54.
