2021 Firearms Industry Super Shoot CANCELED till 2022 at Kelbly's Rifle Range

It is with great disappointment that we are canceling the 2021 48th Firearms Industry Super Shoot. With the current COVID situation. Many countries are not able to attend and if the travel bans are lifted, they will be lifted to close to the start dates of Super Shoot for many to plan to be able to attend. The Super Shoot is a Worldwide event that is for all short-range BR shooters and we want the last one at Kelbly’s to include all countries not just the USA. Currently to come to USA is not an easy process and with this new administration who knows how COVID will be politicized.

We will keep all entries that have been submitted in place of order received and this also includes reserved camp spots. Any questions or concerns just call 330-683-4674 or email me at jim@kelbly.com.

We look forward to seeing you in May. The new dates are May 24 – 27 2022.

Super Shooters,

After long weekend thinking about the Super Shoot, I have decided to cancel this year's Super Shoot till May 2021. The new dates will be May 25 thru 28, 2021. With COVID-19 turning the World upside down and quite possibly the worst to hit the USA will be in April this year, I think it is best to just cancel for this year. It is very likely that most travel bans both in USA and from foreign countries may still be in place in May. With the last 25 plus years of the Super Shoot being an International event, we would like it to end at Kelbly's with the foreign shooters being able to attend the last Super Shoot at Kelbly's.

I do not feel there is a good time this summer or fall to host the event with all other events in BR shooting being postponed to June to October in the United States and in foreign countries as well. If we would hold the event later this year, it could conflict with other postponed matches and I really do not want to affect attendance at other matches. Our sport is struggling these last ten years and we must support all ranges still holding BR matches.

I want to thank everyone that has contacted me with their opinions on this situation as it was appreciated and helped in my decision. I know I stated in previous email that I would wait till end of April to make my decision, but I felt a decision now was better for everyone to get travel and hotel arrangements taking care of.

I want to thank Wade Hull for working with me on this decision. Wade has generously decided to wait an extra year before he and his staff will take over Super Shoot. I also want to thank St Louis Benchrest Club for helping Wade the first few years of hosting the Firearms Industry Super Shoot.

As far as those competitors that are signed up for this year's event, we will just keep everyone signed up and with the same requests for next year as you had for this year.

As far as the shooters that have equipment here, we will keep your equipment here till end of 2021 if need be. We can help with export or moving the items to St Louis for 2022. For those that are interested in selling your equipment, I would suggest making up flyers for the 2021 Super Shoot to post on the For Sale board with sale pending at end of competition.

We would like to wish everyone a safe shooting season and ask you to support those ranges that are hosting competitions this year as long as you are healthy. Be smart and be safe.

No waiting list except for camper spots. Its a logistical nightmare to hold that match and one more wrong “interpretation” of the science leading to any kind of travel restrictions here and they could lose thousands. I guess the kelblys are just playing it safe with the majority of the competitors being in the high risk category anyway

I respect Jim's decision and that is his choice. However if other venues move forward, my opinion is this. If an organization no matter the discipline decides to hold an event, it is choice of the attendee whether they want to participate or not. Hold the event and those who show up assume the risk. If fear of the China Virus scares you enough not to attend so be it, don't show up, if you want to participate do so and have a great time.

No matter your decision do not hold it against the person hosting the event or those that decide to attend . Live your life with no regrets and enjoy it to the fullest, I believe this past 12 months was lost time that you will never get back

Thats so true. What if an old guy caught covid driving across the country and died? They have already sold off the super shoot itself so we already know theyre tired of hosting it anyway.

The Kelblys know what they are doing. While we all have a right to our opinions, I don’t think anyone is in a position to second guess their decision.

This is the last Super Shoot that they will host and I am sure that they want it to go off with a bang! I don’t think for a second that their decision was based on whether they were going to loose or make money hosting the event. Anyone that has dealt with them will know this is true.

With all that is still going on with COVID-19, this type of event could easily turn into a super spreader. Add to that the fact that shooters from all over the world normally participate in this event but can’t travel here for the most part, so they will not be able to participate in the last Kelblys hosted Shoot, and it’s easy to see that they did the right thing canceling this year.

Am someone who has attended the Super Shoot since 1999 I have to add my opinion to this thread. The Kelblys are a great family and they run this match as a non-sanctioned match. It is a fantastic event with shooters from across the globe. They certainly have the right to run it as they see fit. I will always stand in support of them. If you have never attended or do not even know the Kelblys, keep your negative comments to yourself.
