Suggestions for battery operated staple guns

I'm looking for a powered staple gun to fasten paper targets to cardboard backers at the range. Been looking at these staplers on Amazon but I'm not sure on how much force they use to drive the staple. I don't want to shoot the staple completely through the cardboard.

Any one have any suggestions?

Thanks

marchboom,

The Ryobi stapler works well for me. Adjustable force and handles various staple lengths. Home Depot has these and it works with any of the battery packs. It's expensive @ about $100, but if you use other Ryobi tools, it's an easy selection. Same would go for Milwaukee or any of the other common battery powered tools.

I would guess battery powered staplers are more for commercial work and would put a staple deep into wood. Nothing wrong with a much cheaper hand squeezer.

If I could find a squeeze stapler that wouldn't need 25 lbs of pressure to activate it, I would go for that. This what I was considering.

My hands don't work that great anymore either (75 too), but my easy answer to that problem is this:

Notice that the pressure to fire off the staple is forward. Note where the arrow indicates stapling point. That keeps the strain off your hands by rocking forward rather than squeezing. Piece of cake.

I've tried this model, don't. First one quit after about 10 uses, less than 3 targets. Warranty replacement quit after about the same. The next, 2nd, replacement lasted just a few days beyond the 90 day warranty and quit. Luckily the local manager was understanding finally gave me a store gift card.

And you would be incorrect, battery powered are less powerful than air or 100v staplers. My Ryobi just gets the staples to the depth needed.

If you shoot really poorly at the Tack Driver you can get fined $50 for shooting one of Jim's push pins. I've come close a time or two on the score target sighter.
