Suggestions for 6ppc scope

i have my first ppc rifle -sako L461 single shot and it shoots great with one of the first 3 loads i tried. I have 30mm rings with a Athlon scope max 24x scope. I have shot very well just by centering reticle on target but can’t really aim for the same hole or center because just not enough magnification. I can see my holes but want better. I see valdada sightron weavers leupolds 36 35 40 45’s. Some discontinued some new ones coming out and so on. My objective like all is one ragged hole just like everybody else but i don’t shoot competively ok but like the one hole as much as anybody else. My question is what scope would you suggest and my requirements would be 30mm scope that has a 52mm bell or smaller because i don’t want to have to buy different mount/rings and 56 will not clear barrel. I have a new weaver xr 36x model that’s 1” But will sell to offset cost of suggested scope. The Athlon is just what i had in 30mm that would fit and it’s clear very clear and tracks great but just not enough magnification to see even at 100 yds. Cost is concern because of Uncle Sams new tax plan but my budget is less than 1000. Thanks for any suggestions

I have the weaver t xr in 36 but didn’t use for two reasons - 1” and wouldn’t mind a little more power. Haven’t looked at the new weaver 46x - is it 30mm ? - ive read a lot that leupold 45 is the scope used a lot but even used it’s a little out of budget unless i sell the weaver i have. Have looked at the athlons but nothing with enough magnification smaller than 56mm and sightron never owned one. Valdada too expensive. Leupold still stands behind even if a discontinued model I’ve read and I’m not above a variable power. The 52mm limits me but will check out the weaver and sightrons but keep eye open for used 45 leupold

I don't know anything about the Weaver t xr 36x scopes, but many guys claimed the Weaver T 36x (1" tube) scopes worked very well for short range bench rest.

Buying 1" rings is a lot cheaper than a new scope.

Gman i agree and originally plan was to Take nf br 12x42 off of another rifle and put on the new 6ppc rifle. I purchased high sako one piece mounts - not high enough so i purchased extra high leupold steel still not high enough so that is how i ended up putting Athlon on it. Extra high two piece sako rings supposed to work but don’t make anymore and can’t find them. I like the 30mm scopes and have two t36 on other rifles and like them but want more power and brighter. Not above using a 1” and buying more rings but want to think there’s a 30mm 52 or 50 or 45 bell that will work for right price but I’ve never looked through a leupold 45x or sightron. This rifle will shine with a 46 45 or maybe even 40 and mirage maybe tolerable at 100yds after it warms up. I just need to find the right ones suggested for sale at right price.

If bright and clear is the priority, the NF Comp fixed power is the ticket. Presidents’ Day sale at a couple places had them new at $1300 earlier in the week. That’s the best price I’ve seen.

Use that Weaver 36X to learn with and it will likely serve you very well. Put your $ in components and get to the range.

I agree with Rich. There is nothing wrong with a T36. I even know a hall of fame shooter who still uses one.
