Need suggestions

I have a new 700 LTR in 223 coming tomorrow I hope and I will need to put a scope on it - I have a few days to order base and rings and scope because smith is going to work on trigger for me. This will be a crow and target gun and I have always just used solid base leupold. I see more and more picatinny rails and different rings being used. For the dollar what's the most solid base ring combo AND I am leaning more toward a fixed high power scope - any suggestions there? Thanks

You will get alot of - get a good picatinny and burris rings with inserts. My favorite is Ken Ferrall base and a good quick release ring. You will get mixed opinions on this.

You should look at the Sightron 8x32 S111 scope. It has great glass and for the money can't be beat. I like a good variable because of the ability to turn it down when the mirage is bad. Matt

Can't go wrong with Leupold PRW rings and bases and I agree a variable scope would probably be your best bet if you plan on taking the rifle in the field.

Check out the primary arms 4-16 scope. There is some info on YouTube about a long range rifle with small budget. Scope gets good review
