stuck case with co ax press

Ok I have owned a co-ax for 3o years ans I put a case in and put it on top of the shell holder and now I have a stuck case!! Any suggestions?

what lawman said, or trying adjusting the jaw release pin down to allow the jaws to close around the brass head, pull the brass out of the die and then readjust the pin back down. The pin has a thin screw-driver slot on the bottom. Not sure if there is enough adjustment or not.

Was it Lake City brass? That only happened to me with 308 Lake City brass.
They sell an RCBS "suck case) "kit" for that very problem.

he doesn't have a stuck case per say. When he began the sizing process he did not have the ram fully up, as a result when he set the case into the open jaws of the case holder they were actually closed. So the case was just sitting on top of the jaws. Now the case is up in the die with no normal means of latching on to the extractor groove and withdrawing the case. Or so me thinks...

Sounds like a stuck case (case in the sizing die), with the difference being that the rim is attached (as opposed to being torn off like a "normal" stuck case.)

The stuck case extractor is the tool for the job, if you can't get the shellholder to grab the extractor groove.

As an aside, it's pretty easy to assemble your own kit: A 1/4-20 tap and handle, an appropriate size drill bit, a longish 1/4-20 bolt, a couple of 1/4" fender washers, and a 1/2" or 5/8" nut. And a tool to turn the bolt. Pull your decap rod up as far as possible. Drill and tap through the flash hole, put the bolt through the fender washers and nut, then screw the bolt into the case. Keep tightening to draw the brass out of the die through the nut. For smaller calibers you may want to use a smaller bolt size, but 1/4-20 works OK down to at least 223.

I got a stuck case recently on the co-ax when I forgot to switch the jaws around from large to small. After pressing down on the handle and pulling up, the shell pulled right out of the jaws. I just removed the die from the press, unscrewed the top off the die, swapped the co-ax aluminum lock ring for a steel one, and went to a large vise. I opened the vise jaws just enough to pass the body of the die through the jaws and had the lock ring sitting on the top of the jaws. Got a steel rod that fit through the die from the top and hit the rod with a hammer. The case just dropped out. Got lucky with that one.
