You r right at 70 why save the money and Leupold is as good as it getsYou’d hate to go back to a Leupold?
Might be worth a shot over a Diamondback.

Never owned one but at this point !!In my Family, we have about,.. 10 Burris, Scopes
NEVER, ever, had,.. a "problem" !
And they ARE,.. "reasonably", Priced !
Yeah after I try it in the 223 it will probably end up on eBaycheck out vortex scope! I had a diamondback and sent it in 3 times. After about 50 shots i had trouble getting it to focus. I gave up and went to different brand of scope and problem solved.
I was too cheap for my own good Leupold served me well for 40 years. Needed the extra magnification and Leupold seemed so steep. I did make a mistakeOk I’ll toss this out thr, that scope is a turd and I can say that because I have one I had on a 243 truck gun that did the exact same thing your describing. Sprayed bullets making the target look like bird shot hit it lol. I would most definitely swap scopes or put that scope on another gun before sending the gun anywhere. They will fix it for free but if that turns out to be the problem I would go another route, I did. Screw me once and I’m good but not twice,, those scopes are notoriously known for this problem.
True to certain extent but when your black powder shoots as good as your 6.5 u got to wonder. Thanks to u all Will let u known when it comes back from SavagePerhaps you’re simply expecting too much from your chosen equipment?
Accuracy and tiny groups cost money. There’s really no getting around that.
I'd put my money on the stock/bedding issue or lack there of. I don't think your giving up much at all. Especially in a non-magnum cartridge like the 6.5 CM. A 22" barrel is a pretty normal length hunting barrel. You gain more than you lose. You only lose a few feet per second but gain mobility comfort, save weight and make transport easier. Varget seems to be the "Go Too" 6.5 CM powder.Really struggling with my 6.5. I’m a hunter not a match shooter so got the Savage 110 Storm. I know I’m giving up a lot with the 22” barrel etc. Have shot off bags, Caldwell front and bags back and even the lead sled
Have loaded Hornady 129 and 140 SST HPBT. Berger 130 Sierra 120s Nosler 100. Have tried to stay by the book and never loaded to the top however maybe 1 step down Have used Varget Win 760 AA4350 H4350 100V and Superformance which I tried only once.
Have had no repeatable groups. Been careful with temperature as well. Actually sent the gun back to savage who were very nice and said they’d look at.
Vortex 6x24 Diamondback Leupold base and rings
Thanks
ExactlyOK......soooooo....6.5? 6.5 what? Lot's of .264 caliber cartridges out there!!
Or are we talking 6.5's in general.
Thanks. Have tried Varget with spotty performance but once again it could be the scope. I do like the length of the 22” barrel but thought I might be giving up a lot of accuracy so good to knowI'd put my money on the stock/bedding issue or lack there of. Good to know. I better have the next one professionally installed. We Hunt, Deer / Elk with,.. 4.5 x 14 power, Burris scopes and could easily define, a 6" bulls eye at, 750 Yards.
I shoot Targets / steel, etc ( and small Sage Rats out to, 250 yds ) with, the 6.5 x 20 Burris on, my 6 XC.
BEST Prices I've found, were at, Sport Optic's.
Was a former GS / Gun Shop owner and owned Leup'ys for YEARS but, they are,.. "pricey" for what, you get.
Burris, "gets it done" and for, LESS, for, US !
Be sure to, "Lap" your Rings and degrease / Loctite, the screws ! Good luck !
Wouldn't lose accuracy from a 22" barrel but velocity would be down maybe 75-100 fps less than a 26". Not enough to worry about.Thanks. This s my T/C Compass 6.5 Creedmore at 200 yards with factory white box Winchester 125 target ammo. Thats one big hole at 200 yards out of a rifle I paid 225.00 brand new at Cabelas. Sometimes you get way more then you pay for!Perhaps you’re simply expecting too much from your chosen equipment?

Awesome. I did get the rifle back from savage and the groups have tightened up significantly. Took out a coyote last nite pestering a friends chickens on his farm. Close to 300 and moving pretty swiftly. A shot I probably wouldn’t take but I knew he’d be livid if I didn’tThis s my T/C Compass 6.5 Creedmore at 200 yards with factory white box Winchester 125 target ammo. No they really didn’t. They checked off a bunch of things but didn’t identify an issue. Then 3 shot group 1/2” at 100 with factory 143 eldxDid Savage give you any feedback as to what they did?
