Striker barrel change,,,what tools?

i bought a 243 barrel for my striker. I have the wrench. What vise do i need to change barrels? Anything else? Tapered barrel.

Don't need an action wrench, just the savage barrel nut wrench

You can do it with wooden blocks and a vice, but a barrel vice makes it so much easier

Just slide the nut wrench on, then put the barrel in the vise blocks. Loosen nut and action just spins off.

Two large blocks of dry hard oak. Clamp them together and drilling the center.

I ran out of rosin one long weekend a couple of years ago. Just use powdered sugar dusted on the blocks, clamp up real tight and your good to go.

Don’t tap the wrench like your driving tacks. Give it a good whack.

Just make sure it is undersized a bit.
Watch the orientation of the grain on your oak blocks so it doesn’t split or crack.

Aluminum AN vise jaws from SummitRacing.com have been very handy for me for this purpose. Wrap a little masking tape around the barrel if you're worried about marring the finish. Clamp the barrel in the aluminum jaws, cinch down, give the barrel nut wrench a good solid hard elbow-moving swat with a rubber mallet to loosen, a mild wrist-only swat to tighten.
