Went to funeral of my cousin in Johnson City,Tennessee and it has been a disaster. Plane got us to Ashville NC Thursday almost 2 hours late. Our car that had. been reserved and paid for 5 days earlier did not exist and it was so late we could not go to a rental agency away from the airport. Uber and Lyft never confirmed. Had to call ex son in law to get us to Johnson City. Now on the way home flight was delayed for 2 hours we boarded and a hydrolic leak was found and the flight was canceled. One way rentals are not allowed, one said they would do a one way to West Palm Beach for 1200$.. Any one heading south ? The rental car co and airline have both kicked us to the curb. I keep reading on here to buy American, but corporate America is rotten to the core. I am done with depending on corporate America to do what they promise. Was on hold with rental agency for 30 minutes then they said call later and hung up.

Sorry hear about your trials. My daughter and granddaughter flew from New Jersey to St. Louis yesterday to meet her husband and other two kids for his father's funeral. Plane was delayed seven hours and then got diverted to Indianapolis. No crews to take over, so she had to rent a car to drive the rest of the way to St. Louis. Twenty hour trip that should have taken four at the most.

I am in ashville right now. The car rental agencies sold off so many cars they can not let them go one way at thos time. So we came up with a plan . In the am we are going to rent a u haul and drive it home. I am just surprised that airlines and car rentals take no responsibility for stranding us or doing anything to help.get us home

Amtrak is on the coast and we are many miles inland or i would be all over it. Amtrak goes close to our home in west palm beach.The person that works for the city at the ground transportation desk in the ashville airport said greyhound would not come through till Wednesday. We looked at buying a car but every place to get a used car was closed Sunday.

Well I would not have appreciated these comments twenty years ago, so I'm not trying to pour salt on your wounds. But, you could be stuck in a much worse place. Take a good look at those hills and mountains. See how fast the water flows in the French Broad. Lots of good coffee roasters and beer brewers. Stop in the Billy Graham center at the Cove. If I'd just known all those years ago that God was trying to teach me some patience that I desperately needed, it wouldn't have been nearly as hard. I pray for a safe journey for you and yours.

American Airlines cancels hundreds of flights due to staffing crunch, maintenance issues
American Airlines says it will trim its schedule by 1% through mid-July though it canceled more than that this weekend.
