straight walled case from 223

Is there a pistol or carbine case that can be made from cutting off a 223 case and losing the neck?

I use .223 cases to make Tokarev cases by cutting them down, then running them through the 7.62x25 sizing die which necks them down, again. Hit 'em with a drill bit to open the mouth a bit, and presto, chango!

Yes - It is called a:
300 Blakout - cut the .223 case at the Body / Shoulder Junction. Create a shoulder/neck for .30 cal bullet
300 HAM'R - cut the .223 case at the Body / Neck Junction. Create a shoulder/neck for .30 cal bullet
277 Wolverine - cut the .223 case at the Body / Neck Junction. Create a shoulder/neck for 6.8mm bullet

I am sure there are others.

Depends on if you want a true straight wall, and rimless. Many/most pistol cartridges are rimmed, so there are many options for say a rimless 357 magnum/ maximum for a straight wall. Then it’s just a degree of taper you find acceptable.

.338 is possible. A 32 Miller is a 357 case straight tapered to .321. I have 28-222 that is a rimmed 222 straight tapered to .285. 30-30 Wesson is 357 Maximum straight tapered for .308

All of that is possible by cutting off at the neck or expanding the neck, since the base diameter will of 223 and 38/357 cases are .379, any thing made from either parent case can also be made as a rimmed or rimless version.

A 350 legend is basically a rimless 357 Maximim, the base diameter was increased because autoloaders don’t like to feed true straight wall cases.

Full length 223 is 357 Maximum length cartridge at the neck would be slightly longer than 357 Magnum. Make it as short as you like.
