Straight BR or derivative.

I choose 6BRA over the Dasher to avoid having to take the extra step of making a false shoulder when fire-forming. Most dashers I shoot against are running speeds similar to my BRA (low 2,900s) so I haven’t felt disadvantaged by the slightly less powder capacity.

The next step up to 6 Creed comes at a cost to barrel life.

I shoot a BRA. Never had the straight BR. I shoot steel to 1000 with 108 Bergers,2870 fps. I’m on barrel #3. 1.25” straight 30”. Shoot Lapua 6 BR brass. I’m happy with the bra.

If I could get the same performance with less powder I’m all for that

I pulled my first one around 2200 but it was still shooting good, my second has 2000 still good, my 3 rd has 1300. The first two I pulled because I wanted a fresh one for start of a new season. I need to run one till it’s done but haven’t , I’d say at least 2400/2600 should be doable.

Hi,

I’m about to start a new build, I’ve decided on a 6BR of some description but I’m unsure if just to go straight BR or one of the improved versions.
It‘s going to be a bit of a do it all rifle, steel targets, small deer and fox. Something for my son to have a go with as well.
I‘m going with a Zermatt TL3 action, 24in barrel in a Manners stock. I’m in the UK and can currently get hold of Lapua 6BR brass fairly easily and also the Alpha options at a price!
What would you guys go with? Straight BR or…

Thanks

Jon
Finding a either of those on the shelf might be a problem.

I shoot with Jim Hart, my 223 and 223 AI barrels are Hart and they are tack drivers, so good, that I ordered a Hart for my next Dasher barrel, waiting in the wings.
This brings up the question that I have been wandering about for several years... It used to be ALL Shilen or Hart. Now-a-days seems all you see on the equipment lists is Krieger, Brux, or Bartlein. Why is that, a case of monkey see, monkey do? Interested in everyone's opinion....
