Storage bottle for powder

Looking for a good bottle/container for powder.

The snap on caps on powder bottles does not instill confidence that it seals properly, or even very well.

I'm looking for a good container to store powder in once I have opened the retail container.

Thanks!

I save the Hodgdon and IMR 1# bottles for this reason. They match the threads for Harrells powder measures and if you have Redding measures Sinclair makes (made) adapters that have the same threads. My problem with the Nalgene bottles is that they are translucent and it is known that light causes powder deterioration.

Years ago, 50's & 60's for sure, powder came in metal containers with the top and bottom slightly concaved. The cap that was on the top was a metal cap. With your thumb you pushed downward in the center of the cap and it would the come off. To reseal, put the cap on and press down on the opposing sides of the cap at the same time and the center would pop back up and it was sealed.

I haven't seen powder in true metal cans in years. There's no reason to keep powder in a different container other than what it came in.

I was wondering the same. What powder comes with snap caps? I do have several empty IMR and Hodgdon 1# bottles I could send to somebody that needed them.

VV 1# containers used to come with flip top covers (once you ripped off the seal). I still have some 150, 350, 540 and 560 in those type containers.

I keep a 1 lb bottle to pour off some from 8 lbs jug if I am going back n forth to the measure, keeps me from opening/closing my jugs more than I want. My anxiety tells me keep my jug sealed and use the smaller bottle when loading and such. But I keep the bottles/jugs in latchable MTM storage bins with a rubber seal like a steel ammo can in hopes of keeping any environmental issues at bay. We know they are not hermetically sealed but its a help, makes me feel good between the ears and shrapnel should not be like a glass jar should something go very wrong.

If you have the old metal cans, screw or pop on disc top, those can rust inside, so are best to replace.
No rhyme or reason; I had a sealed case of 1 lb. 4064's. Some had rust; some were shiny clean inside.

Unless Ginger and Mary Ann are your room mates (In which case I will gladly trade places with You),
there must be some other reloaders around who would have more plastic powder bottles than they
need. Maybe ask at the local gun shop. I've lost track of the number that went into recycling.

To Clarify: Just Mary Ann would be more than sufficient.
