Stopping the ammonia action

How do you stop the action of ammonia on the bore? Old thread said to use brake cleaner. I usually end my cleaning process with a wet ATF patch followed by a bore snake. I read through the "Sweet's" thread, but didn't see anything about stopping the chemical reaction.

The best way to stop ammonia action in a $700 custom stainless steel barrel is do not use anything with ammonia to clean it with.

When I was shooting p. dogs, 600-1100 rounds of centerfire per day was the norm. When we were done, we used JB, then Sweets to verify the copper was gone, and usually took two 15 minute soakings of Sweets.

All we ever did was push 4 tight patches through the bore after the Sweets. Barrels were set back several times.

We never had a problem.

I have been using Montana Extreme Copper killer since it first was introduced, again no problems.

Mixing up industrial grade ammonia concoctions is just a little on the OCD side of the Wild Life!

I'm gonna send you a text, short video of me banging a puck of simtech clear on a metal step.
Tuff stuff, you wont do that with automotive clear.
be shure and have your assistant give the demonstration ,,,,,would be very impactful ,,,,Roger

Kroil is the last thing I use when cleaning. It clears out what ever and lubes till next time.

I use denatured alcohol. I've heard (but never tried it) that Hoppes #9 works too. I use Butches bore shine, then denatured alcohol and then kroil. So far so good...
