Stolle Panda bolt dismantling

Hi
I have a stolle panda action in 6mm BR which I use for 300 meter ISU shooting. I am attempting to improve the lock time by substituting the firing pin with one of a lighter weight.
Does anyone know how to remove the current firing pin from the bolt? Are there any special tools required? If so does anyone know where they can be purchase?

Thanks

It is possible to do all the work without special tools but it usually results in parts flying off into space or, worse, through your picture window. Best to have two tools. One to remove the firing pin/spring/bolt shroud assembly from the bolt body and one to disassemble the assembly to change any of the components. Sinclair has both tools, as do several other suppliers such as Midway, Brownells, etc.

BTW, none of my business, but I don't think there's a whole lot of improvement possible with the Panda bolt.

Thanks for the information. The substitute firing pin I intend to use is lighter than the standard Stolle Panda firing pin and, I understand, should therefore improve the lock time. Is this correct?

I've never used one of the lightweight FPs so can't comment from actual experience. Hopefully someone who has used one will post because I'd like to hear comments from an actual user.

What I have "heard" is that a lighter pin may sometimes cause hang-fires or even mis-fires and to compensate you have to install a heavier spring which then introduces harder bolt lift. A viscous circle.

You might call David Tubb and talk to him about his replacement FP springs. Maybe that is a better alternative?? David also sells the lighter FPs so he can also advise you on them. Nothing better than advice from a National Champ.

OOOPS! You're in UK. Maybe e-mail David.:D

I have puchased a GRE - TAN replacement firing pin which comes with a new spring. I have also ordered a tool from Sinclairs to dismantle the Stolle firing pin. I will keep you posted as to the results.
Thanks
