Stocks with 3" Forearms

Nodak7mm

Team Lefse
In the interest of my further quest for knowledge... ::)

I am curious as to why to stocks with wide width forearms such as the std 3", tend to run the full 3" width (almost) the full length (10"-14") of the forearm when you really only utilizing say 4"-6" on the rest top? An example would be the Tooley MBR or the MasterClass F-Class Prone....

Cause thats the way they have always made them?

Need the weight/mass/support?

Any specific reason I am overlooking?

Just wondering..

Thanks
