Stock shrinkage???

Stock shrinkage?? I've heard of folks in the Mid West that run a "Swamp Cooler" to humidify the air so their furniture doesn't fall apart from drying out.
Now, if you live in Florida.......

Here in Central Ohio I run a humidifier in the winter and a dehumidifier in the summer.

Apprenticeship started in 1975 as a union apprentice and over the years wound up running a crew doing high end renovations in Palm Beach Florida. Built cabinets and wall units in the 1990s and still have the shop here on the property. My latest big project was for one of the heirs to the King ranch has a place close by and it needed a lot of work. I would be on the job right now but the soccer mom were are doing the install for won't let us in the house till 10. They make Estwings for a reason.

ATF is good for several things. It might be the best gun oil/lube ever and is a main ingredient in Ed's Red bore cleaner. Seriously, google it as a gun lube/cleaner. It has most of the pertinent attributes we want. Cheap too...compared to the commercial stuff out there.

Sorry, off topic.
add a little B-12, ,marvel mystery oil, and acetone and it is a perfect cleaner and lube, patch out and good to go - just keep off stock finish

A lot of stocks suffer from shrinkage because the wood was used before it stabilized. Too green. Old Ithaca doubles had that problem. Monty Kennedy talks about it in his book "Checkering and Carving of Gunstocks".
