Stock Inletting

What is the difference in basic inletting and fully inletted? Also, how hard is it to inlet a flat top stock using a mill? I am looking at getting a McMillan Tooley MBR for a 6mmbr build. My cousin has a mill I can use and not sure if I should special order a stock from McMillan, buy a flat top from brunos, or get a basic inlet from brunos.

Does the basic get you close and then you can trim up the stock from there? Also does the basic inlet include cutting the barrel contour?

Fully inletted should be a 100 % drop in fit, but don't hold your breath on that unless Russo did it.....
Semi inletted will need some wood work done to allow a good fit....
Usually the barrel channel on that is on the small side....
No problem with doing it all on a good mill, but do a lot of measuring and stay inside the lines........

The partial inlets I've bought needed the bolt and safety slots cut, the bedding pillars drilled, a notch for the side mounted iron sight block or the bolt release, the trigger recess opened up, and the floor plate or trigger guard inletted. The barrel, receiver, and recoil lug were cut to size. Manufactures are probably different and it may depend on if your barreled action is a common size or if you have an existing stock to duplicate.
