stock inletting ink

was trying to find a ink made for inletting. i have used other things in the past but was thinking there has to something out there better than vasoline and colored wax. thanks for any advise.

Snatch a tube of about gone lipstick from a GF or wife it works well, or bite the bullet and order a container of Inletting Black from Brownells...

Brownells sells a product called inletting black. It's nothing more than lampblack mixed with oil but works great.

Steven Dodd Hughes, who is one of the best known custom wood stock guys, uses machinest blue. This was shown to him years ago at Trinidad. Steve puts it on with a toothbrush.
