Stock for F TR rifle

Looking for some ideas on a stock for an upcoming FTR build in .308 win. Now being new to this I may be getting the cart before the horse since I really don't have any specifics on barrel or action. The only thing I know is that I would like to shoot 215gr bullets. Maybe A 30" barrel, Sightron 10-50x60 scope so of course weight is a limiting factor but wouldn't mind getting some ideas to pick through.

I am using a Precision Rifle & Tool F/TR stock, I cannot say enough good things about it. Because of the weight limit I suggest you decide well in advance what exact components you are going to use. I am running a Rem 700 action, 28 inch AMU contoured barrel, PRT stock with one of Alex Sitmans 3 way buttplates to save weight, a Centershot bipod, NXS 12-42x56 in Murphy Ti rings and bases. As it turned out I have enough weight to spare that the next barrel is probably going to be around 32. The long forearm on the PRT stock is deceptive, most folks dont realise the barrel is that long.

I use a Bell & Carlson A5 adjustable. I really like it, although with my 1.25", 28" barrel, I had to make some modifications to make weight.

I have two F T/R rifles. One has a McMillan A5 stock with a Harris Bipod and the other, a Masterclass with a Centershot bipod. I like them both, but I like the Masterclass more.

MY 1st inclination would be to track down and Roberston composite H&H stock but it would have to be a used one. they are no longer around. other options are the low boy FTR or this star-shooter offering............like others have said weight is a factor so figure out what barrel you want first followed by the action and work the weight out for the rest of the rifle.

I would suggest you look at the McMillian Long Range Prone stock. This is the stock Jeff Rorer, Brad Sauve are now using.

i use a joel russo a5l with adjustable comb and love it. after i had it cleared, its not only functional but beautiful. its easily the best looking stock in the cabinet.
next time though i'd go with an adjustable butt plate and shorter lop. this way i could adjust length based on position.
