Stock Finishing

spar varnish from a marine supply store is designed for custom , wood finishes , is designed for your use .it is designed to be left in sun and rain for a year without cracking or yellowing !

Fellows: I have a unfinished laminate stock that I would like to apply a solid color over (paint?).

Any suggestions on what I need to do? I would think I'ld have to sand it down to a certain grit level, then apply a wood sealer of some sort, maybe a primer then a solid topcoat.

Thoughts?

I used a mason product automotive clear that was very inexpensive and it worked great it did not tint the wood it drys very hard in just 24 hours and has very deep shine after wet sanding and polishing. I was going to have it done and decided to do it myself. it was a pain in the rear but the finish product is awesome. lot of sanding and around15 coats later I had it done. trust me that picture does not do the finish justice.

I use Gun Sav'R that I get from brownell's it's a urethane oil mix that's in a aresol can made in high gloss or satin. I just use fine steel wool between coats it's easy and leaves a tough urethane finish
